Charleston “Lift Zone” will connect community with opportunity to learn digital skills

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Comcast is connecting the Charleston community with opportunities to learn digital skills and pursue academic, professional, and personal advancement.

The telecommunications company has partnered with the Charleston Digital Corridor (CDC) Learning Center to launch a WiFi-connected “Lift Zone” at the Charleston Tech Center.

Leaders connected to the project say the space, located on Morrison Drive, will offer a safe space where the community can advance their education in the digital landscape.

Comcast recently announced a $25,000 grant for the development and promotion of the CDC Learning Center, and the company has donated more than $80,000 to the center over the last four years to support its mission of improving economic mobility in Charleston through digital skills training.

“Comcast’s commitment to Charleston’s workforce readiness over the years has had an enormous impact on our community,” said Charleston Mayor William Cogswell. “I am honored to celebrate with Comcast today as they commemorate the opening of a valuable Lift Zone at Charleston Digital Corridor’s Learning Center.”

The company also donated 25 laptops to students at C.E. Williams Middle School, who will attend the CDC Learning Center’s “ChatGPT for Students” class.
