CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A second man accused in the deadly hit-and-run of two young women from South Carolina’s upstate region is expected to appear before a bond court judge on Tuesday afternoon.
Seth Alan Gilbert William Carlson, 32, was arrested Monday on two counts of reckless vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.
He is being housed at the Al Cannon Detention Center.
Investigators with the Charleston Police Department looking further into the April 28 crash followed up on leads and reviewed recently obtained surveillance footage from the South Carolina Ports Authority which revealed the victims, Lizzy Zito and Arianna Gamber, both 20, were first struck on Morrison Drive by Carlson’s Chevrolet truck at 1:12 a.m.
They were struck again, roughly 30 minutes later, by an Acura TL, that was driven by Max David Gentilin.
Carlson’s truck was found abandoned in West Ashley after police said he reportedly crashed into a ditch and ran off.
Gentilin was arrested on April 30 after turning himself in to authorities. He was charged with two counts of leaving the scene of an accident causing death. Gentilin was given a $300,000 surety bond and released from the Charleston County Detention Center.
Lt. Anthony Gibson with Charleston PD said the investigation remains active and noted that additional charges are expected.
Anyone who may have information related to the investigation is asked to contact the department’s traffic unit at 843-965-4084 or Crime Stoppers of the Lowcountry at 843-554-1111.
