Crews fighting ‘massive landfill fire’ in Dorchester County

DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) — Fire crews are responding to a massive landfill fire Tuesday evening.

Units with Dorchester County Fire Rescue and Berkeley County Fire Service are fighting a fire off of Harrison Road at the Carolina Landfill site, DCFR reported.

Dorchester County Fire Chief Tres Atkinson said the fire is burning across approximately 2 acres.

Officials asked residents to stay clear of the area in a social media post. They also said for motorists to use caution when driving through Highway 178 near Beidler Forest Road.
