Man slashed woman’s tires after she refused his sexual advances, affidavits say

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A man is accused of starting a physical altercation with a woman and slashing her tires after she refused his sexual advances, according to arrest affidavits.

Elijah Singleton Jr., 25, was arrested early Saturday morning after deputies with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) said he engaged in an altercation with the victim at the Golden Paradise Bar and Grill in the Adams Run community.

Singleton and the victim were walking outside the business towards the victim’s vehicle when he made sexual advances, which she turned down. Affidavits say the defendant then continued to harass the victim and give her unwanted kisses.

When the victim attempted to get away from Singleton, the man pulled out a pocketknife with a three-inch blade and started to cut the woman’s left eyebrow and said that if she attempted to fight back, he would kill her.

According to the documents, Singleton then slashed both of the victim’s front tires with the knife, leaving the victim without a way to leave the scene. He then entered the woman’s vehicle and threatened to harm her and make unwanted sexual acts.

Singleton’s charges include kidnapping, malicious injury to real property less than $2,000, assault and battery high and aggravated nature, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and assault/intent to commit criminal sexual conduct.

He was booked into the Charleston County Detention Center and released Sunday on a bond totaling $117,125.
