Authorities execute “high-risk” arrest warrant at Ladson home

DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A 19-year-old Ridgeville man was arrested Wednesday after authorities executed what they called a “high-risk” arrest warrant.

The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) Special Weapons and Tactical Unit and US Marshal Service responded to a home on Maryland Drive in Ladson.

Demetrious Dickerson was taken into custody.

Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said Dickerson was wanted for a deadly February shooting in Holly Hill.

“This has been an extensive investigation that has resulted in the arrest of our shooting suspect,” said Sheriff Ravenell. “I’d like to thank the US Marshals Service and the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office for their help in making this arrest.”

Dickerson is charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime. Sheriff Ravenell said those charges stem from a February 18 incident on Catamount Road in which a 22-year-old Summerville man was shot following an apparent confrontation.

Dickerson was out on bond in Dorchester County where officials said he had been charged with second-degree burglary and grand larceny last November.
