Charleston County deputies investigating after 1 found dead in Ladson vehicle fire

LADSON, S.C. (WCBD) – Authorities are investigating a deadly vehicle fire in the Ladson area.

Deputies with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) were called to Koester Road around 5:00 p.m. Saturday for a vehicle fire.

Officials said a body was discovered inside the vehicle after fire crews extinguished the flames. “Due to the burns to the deceased, the cause of death was not readily apparent,” said Alexis Douglas, public information officer for the sheriff’s office.

CCSO’s Criminal Investigations Division and the Forensic Services Unit responded to the scene. The agency is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the fire.

The Charleston County Coroner’s Office will identify the individual when appropriate.
