New Dorchester School District Two budget includes staff pay increase

DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Dorchester School District Two employees can expect a salary increase for the 2025-2026 school year after the district’s board of trustees approved the annual budget Monday night.

Teachers on each step of the salary scale are expected to receive a $2,500 increase, with starting teacher pay anticipated to reach $49,000 to $51,000. All eligible teachers should see a 4-6% increase that depends on years of service or step, the school district said.

Non-teaching staffers can expect an additional 3% increase, while eligible non-teachers will receive the increase plus a step that will add a 4-6% pay increase.

In addition, the daily rate for full-time adult support and health room assistant employees will increase from $120 to $125.

“Investing in our teachers, administrators, and classified staff is an investment in our students’ futures,” said Superintendent Chad Daugherty. “These raises reflect our deep appreciation for the dedication, hard work, and passion our employees bring to our schools and district every day. We believe that supporting our staff is essential to creating a high-performing learning environment for all.”

The increases are supported by additional funding incoming from local and state revenues.
