North Charleston parade, celebration to mark Juneteenth
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A parade commemorating Juneteenth will take place Sunday at the Felix Pinckney Community Center.
Organizers say the event will be a “celebration full of pride and culture marching through the historic Liberty Hill community.”
The lineup will begin at the North Charleston Transit Center (4565 Gaynor Ave.) at 12:30 p.m., and the parade will get underway at 2 p.m.
It will start at the transit center and move north of Montague Avenue, travel through the Liberty Hill area, and end on Abraham Street in the Royal Baptist Church parking lot.
A celebration will follow in the park behind the Felix Pinckney Community Center (4764 Hassell Avenue).
PARADE ROUTE:
Starts at the Transit Center on Gaynor Avenue heading North to Montague Ave, right turn onto Montague Avenue heading East toward Mixson Avenue, left turn onto Mixson Avenue heading North toward the new North Charleston Sports Complex (old Danny Jones), left turn onto Lackawanna and back onto Mixson Avenue heading South toward Montague Avenue, right turn onto East Montague Avenue heading West back thru Liberty Hill, ending the parade by turning left onto Abraham Street into Royal Baptist Church Parking Lot.
