Former North Charleston officer arrested, charged by SLED
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A former North Charleston officer was arrested by the state’s top law enforcement agency last week.
Larne Demarcio Green was charged by the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) after the Summerville Police Department requested an investigation into an incident involving Green that happened on May 19.
40-year-old Green is charged with domestic violence in the first degree, misconduct in office, two counts of kidnapping, and pointing and presenting a firearm at a person, according to SLED.
He was booked at the Hill Finklea Detention Center and given a $25,000 bond—$5,000 for each charge.
On May 19, affidavits state that Green allegedly parked his patrol vehicle next to both the victim’s cars, blocking their movements at the movie theater on Azalea Square Boulevard in Summerville.
One of the victims told the Summerville Police Department that he and his friend were in her car talking when Green pulled up and blocked them in.
The man asked his friend who it was, and she told him it was her child’s father, who worked for NCPD, according to a Summerville police report.
Green approached the vehicle the two were in while in uniform. As Green approached, the male victim exited the woman’s car and got into his own.
The male victim started to leave, but Green stepped behind his car to take pictures, the report states. The man slowly began to back out, and that is when Green allegedly pointed his firearm at him.
Green then approached the driver’s side, and the man told him he was being recorded. After the man told Green of the recording, Green put away the weapon, and the victim was able to leave, the report said.
The man had a back-facing camera and another that faced the passenger’s front side. He showed a Summerville detective the footage, which confirmed his statements, the report states.
Green then walked to the other victim’s car and punched her in the jaw, according to the affidavits provided by SLED.
Witness statements also confirmed the incident, SLED said.
He was terminated from the North Charleston Police Department on June 13, according to a spokesperson for the office.
