Woman victim of auto-pedestrian crash near Charles Towne Landing: coroner

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A 38-year-old woman died on the scene after an auto-pedestrian collision by the entrance of Charles Towne Landing, the Charleston County Coroner’s Office said Monday.

Marissa Meloy, also known as Blair, passed away at 1:54 p.m. Friday on Old Towne Road after being struck by an Isuzu box truck, Coroner Bobbi Jo O’Neal said.

The box truck was turning into the historic state park when it struck Meloy.

The box truck driver immediately stopped after the collision occurred and is cooperating with police, the Charleston Police Department said.

The main entrance to the park was blocked off for about two hours while officers completed an initial investigation and cleared the scene.
