1 injured in Wando deputy-involved shooting
BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – One person was injured Tuesday night after a deputy-involved shooting in Wando.
Berkeley County deputies pulled a vehicle over for a traffic stop near Clements Ferry Road and Rivers Reach Drive when shots were fired. The person injured as a result of the shooting was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
No deputies were injured in the situation, the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office said.
Sheriff Duane Lewis has requested the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division to investigate the shooting, per protocol.
An investigation is active, and additional details are expected to be released as they become available.
