Georgetown County men arrested for operating dogfighting business: SLED

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – State law enforcement arrested two Georgetown County men following an investigation into an illegal dogfighting operation.

Edward Lee Moultrie, Jr., 48, and Edward Lee Moultrie, Sr., 78, were arrested Wednesday by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

Moultrie Jr. is charged with six counts of animal fighting, three counts of ill treatment of animals, and two counts of conspiracy while Moultrie Sr. is charged with conspiracy in connection with the operation of a dogfighting kennel.

SLED worked with the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office, the South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services (SC PPP), and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) to investigate.

Both were booked into the Georgetown County Detention Center.
