Ex-North Charleston councilman faces bribery charges in court

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Former North Charleston councilman Mike A. Brown will appear in federal court for his arraignment on Tuesday.

Brown was suspended by Governor Henry McMaster’s office after facing charges for his alleged role in a bribery scheme.

Justice Department officials say Brown conspired with Aaron Hicks and Former North Charleston Council member Jerome Heyward.

Heyward was allegedly accepting bribes from Hicks, who was working on behalf of a company doing business with city council in exchange for support of rezoning the Baker Hospital site.

The hearing is set for Tuesday, March 11 at 10 a.m.
