Downtown Charleston pub to close after St. Patrick’s Day celebration

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A classic Irish pub just off E. Bay Street in downtown Charleston announced they will close after their annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration this year.

Bumpa’s has been open on Cumberland Street for nearly five years, but owners will close the doors after the annual St. Patrick’s Day Bash hosted by the establishment on Mar. 17.

“Owning a bar with my brother had always been a dream of mine, and I’m so glad we got to make it a reality,” said Dan Sullivan, co-owner of Bumpa’s. “It pains me that this chapter is ending, but I’m so proud of what we built. I’m beyond grateful for our staff and will forever appreciate the locals and visitors who filled our place with cheer for nearly five years.”

The brothers are inviting locals and visitors to celebrate with them one final time for the bash. In addition to regular menu items, Bumpa’s will offer cottage pie, corned beef and cabbage, Irish breakfast shots, and the classic green beer courtesy of Low Tide Brewing.

After the downtown parade that morning, bagpipe players will make a stop at Bumpa’s to showcase their musical talent for pubgoers.

Up until the celebration, Bumpa’s will operate on a normal schedule.
