Workshop on James Island to preview Dominion Energy’s tree trimming project

JAMES ISLAND, S.C. (WCBD)—A workshop on Wednesday evening will preview upcoming work by Dominion Energy crews to safeguard overhead distribution lines from hazardous tree branches or other vegetation.

The work is part of the utility company’s five-year cycle to maintain the electric system’s safety, resiliency, and reliability.

A public workshop will be held from 4:30 p.m. until 6 p.m. at James Island Town Hall (1122 Dills Bluff Road) where attendees can view oversized maps and meet with representatives to discuss the project.

Dominion Energy officials said the work will extend across more than 100 miles of overhead distribution lines throughout parts of the Town of James Island, City of Charleston, James Island Public Service District, and other areas of Charleston County beginning next month.

Property owners will be notified by mail or email approximately two weeks prior to the start of trimming in their area.

The meeting will be drop-in style with large maps marking streets where work is planned, and information stations to allow residents the opportunity to view information at their convenience Wednesday evening.
