Prescribed burn planned for Francis Marion forest Thursday

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – United States Forestry crews will conduct a prescribed burn Thursday in the Francis Marion National Forest.

The burn will happen off FS-161 Farewell Corner Road and FS-176A Cumbee A Road.

Berkeley County officials say smoke is expected to head toward Awendaw and Highway 17.

Residents may also notice a light haze on Steed Creek and Halfway Creeks roads in Huger during the burn.
