1 dead in ‘suspicious’ Parkwood Vista Way house fire

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – One person is dead following a ‘suspicious’ house fire on Parkwood Vista Way, officials say.

Firefighters responded to a residential structure fire around 1:30 p.m. and believed someone may be trapped inside. One person was located and brought out of the home.

Assistant Fire Chief Colt Roy with Central Berkeley Fire and EMS confirmed there was one fatality; that individual’s identity has not been released.

Officials are working with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and State Fire Marshals to investigate the fire, which is deemed suspicious.

The individual will undergo an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
