Downed power line shuts down Savannah Hwy

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A downed powerline has shut down Savannah Hwy in both directions, causing backups in the area.

The Charleston Police Department says the downed powerline is affecting the 1700 block on Highway 17.

Traffic is severely restricted and officers do not have an estimated time of the highway reopening.

Officials advise drivers to find an alternate route.
