Sullivan’s Island restaurant to reopen this week after being damaged in fire

SULLIVAN’S ISLAND, S.C. (WCBD) – A popular restaurant on Sullivan’s Island will reopen Thursday after briefly closing to repair damage sustained in a kitchen fire.

The Obstinate Daughter suffered significant kitchen damage in a fire that began in the early morning of Jan. 8. The restaurant announced via social media that dinner service will resume Thursday at 4 p.m.

Reservations can now be made through the restaurant website.

Sullivan’s Island Fire Chief Anthony Stith said crews responded to the restaurant at 3:06 a.m. that morning and had the fire extinguished in less than 15 minutes.

Officials determined the blaze began in a room next to the kitchen by a rack that contained dirty rags and other powdered equipment. No one was injured from the flames.

“Our team is safe, and we’re working diligently to reopen as quickly as possible. Thank you to all who have reached out in support. We look forward to serving our community again soon,” Obstinate Daughter General Manager Annie Vieira said when the fire initially occurred.
