Berkeley County deputies arrest man in Cross triple homicide

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCBD) – The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man on charges connected to a triple homicide in the Cross community.

Leroy Alexander Witherspoon Jr., 67, of Greenville, was arrested on January 27th. He is charged with three counts of murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Berkeley County Sheriff Duane Lewis states, “The tragic loss of three lives in this manner was heinous. Despite the heavy workload our detectives have recently faced, they dedicated countless hours to meticulously investigating this triple homicide. We remain committed to holding those responsible accountable, and I am proud of the tireless efforts of our team in bringing the killer to justice.”

As previously reported, deputies responded to a residence on Poplar Hill Dr in the Cross community on January 20th. Upon arrival, deputies discovered three victims deceased.

The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as Thomas Williams, 56, from Ridgeville, Torrionda Taylor, 46, from Cross, and Marsena Moore, 55, from Summerville.

The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating.
