Closures, cancellations and reschedules persist as ice blankets Lowcountry roads
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – With lingering ice and snow covering Lowcountry roads and temperatures expected to dip below freezing overnight, several government offices remain closed, and events have been rescheduled or canceled.
Town of Mount Pleasant
All town facilities will remain closed through Friday. Staff will continue to work remotely.
All recreational activities through the town for Thursday and Friday are cancelled.
Trash collection remains suspended through Friday. Regular collection will resume Monday.
City of Hanahan
The City of Hanahan city and facility openings until 1 p.m. Friday out of an abundance of caution for employees. Garbage service will not run Friday.
Charleston County Parks
All Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission parks and facilities will remain closed on Friday.
City of Goose Creek
City offices will open at 11 a.m. Friday and recreational activities including the Goose Creek Activity Center & Community Center will resume at noon.
If your trash pickup is Wednesday or Thursday, officials said to have your trash out on Friday. Any trash not picked up Friday will be picked up on Saturday.
Charleston Half Marathon
The Charleston Half Marathon and 5K, which was scheduled for Saturday, has been cancelled due to safety concerns for participants and employees.
SC Stingrays
Due to the freezing temperatures, the South Carolina Stingrays have moved up their game for Friday. The stingrays will now play at 3:05 p.m. instead of starting at 7:05 p.m.
Boone Hall Plantation
Boone Hall in Mount Pleasant will remain closed Friday with plans to reopen Saturday, officials said.
Dorchester School District Two
DDTwo’s Winter Recruitment Fair has been rescheduled Saturday, February 8th, 9 a.m. to noon at Fort Dorchester High School. To learn more about the hiring fair, click here.
Georgetown County
All Georgetown County offices will remain closed through Friday. The county said they expect to resume regular operations on Monday.
City of Charleston
All City of Charleston offices will remain closed Friday. City garbage and trash routes have been suspended and will resume Monday.
Officials said they expect to clear the roads by midday to mid-afternoon Friday.
City of North Charleston
All city offices will stay closed through Friday.
The North Charleston City Council meeting and the North Charleston State of the City Address scheduled for Thursday, January 23 is rescheduled to Thursday, January 30 at 7:00pm.
Trash collection will resume normal schedule Monday as it is suspended the rest of the week.
All recreational and cultural arts activities are cancelled on Friday.
Colleton County
All Colleton County government offices will remain closed on Friday. Officials say offices will reopen Monday.
Roper St. Francis Healthcare
All freestanding emergency departments remain open. All partner physician clinics and lab draw sites remain closed through Friday, but some providers will hold virtual visits.
Infusions sites will open at 10 a.m. Friday. Express care locations will open Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Charleston County
All in-person county operations remain suspended as the county is at OPCON 2. Emergency operations will remain activated through Thursday night.
Public works will continue to treat and clear roads on 24-hour shifts.
Due to continued hazardous driving conditions along secondary routes, curbside recycling collection will remain suspended Friday. As long as conditions allow, tomorrow’s routes will be collected on Saturday. Crews will collect Wednesday’s and Thursday’s routes in accordance with their normal collection schedule.
Dorchester County Parks
All Dorchester Count Parks will be closed Friday.
Dorchester County
Dorchester County Government Administrative Offices, Courts, and Libraries will have a delayed opening of noon on Friday.
Dorchester Seniors, Inc., with facilities in Summerville and St. George will be closed on Friday and reopen on Monday.
Charleston County Libraries
All libraries will remain closed on Friday. Book drops and material returns will stay closed also.
Goose Creek Red Cross Blood Drive at the Activity Center
The blood drive on Friday has been cancelled. Officials said they will reschedule and announce the new date when it is confirmed.
CARTA
CARTA service is suspended through Thursday. Services will resume Friday.
SC Aquarium
The South Carolina Aquarium will remain closed through Friday.
Medical University of South Carolina
The campus, including the Wellness Center, will be closed on Friday. Remote learning will continue where feasible, the hospital system said.
MUSC Health clinics will delay opening for in-person appointments until 11 a.m. Offices will contact patients scheduled before 11 a.m. about rescheduling or moving to virtual appointments.
Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum
Patriots Point will stay closed through Friday.
TriCounty Link
Due to hazardous road conditions, TriCounty Link service will be suspended tomorrow, Friday. Officials said operations will resume on Saturday.
