Section of I-95 in Dorchester County closed due to roadway obstruction

DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A section of Interstate 95 that runs through Dorchester County is shut down in both directions Thursday afternoon.

The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office said the north and south lanes are closed at mile marker 79 because an 18-wheeler struck powerlines, which are now lying across the roadway.

First responders are urging motorists to keep away from the area and find alternative routes.

Officials do not have an estimate on when the roadway will reopen, and there is no word of injuries.

State troopers are rerouting northbound traffic at the 77 mile marker and southbound traffic is being exited at the 82 mile marker.
