Child, 11, was severely injured in Adams Run dog attack

ADAMS RUN, S.C. (WCBD) – A child suffered extensive injuries to her face and head Tuesday after she was attacked by a dog, according to a report from the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office.

While responding to a Clyburn Road home, deputies learned that the dog was biting and on top of the child. They arrived and found the 11-year-old victim inside with severe injuries to her face and head.

Deputies immediately started to apply first aid until firefighters arrived to assist. She was then taken to the Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital for treatment.

The Cane Corso – an Italian breed of mastiff – was located outside with an orange lead rope and a bike chain lock still attached to its collar.

An incident report states the owner, identified as Lauquana Crosland, said she had tied the dog to a porch post using the bike lock and did not realize the dog escaped.

Crosland was cited for ‘animal at large.’ The child’s condition is unknown.
