Give back through One80 Place’s Turkey and a $20 event

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – One80 Place, an organization that works to prevent homelessness, is raising funds to support people in need during the holiday season.

The housing and homeless shelter will host its annual Turkey and a $20 drive on Tuesday, Nov. 26. The goal is to receive $80,000 in donations and 180 grocery store gift cards.

Every dollar raised will go directly toward supporting the shelter’s community kitchen and food rescue programs. The organization said the donations will help provide roughly 34,000 meals to those experiencing homelessness and hunger locally.

People are encouraged to drive by and drop off a turkey or ham and $20 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

“In the short time it takes to drive through, you can help feed hundreds of people experiencing homelessness,” One80 Place said.

The shelter is located at 35 Walnut Street in Charleston.
