North Charleston officers stop early morning burglary at Hugo Ave. home

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – North Charleston officers foiled an early morning burglary at a home that is under construction.

A victim told dispatchers that they could see the suspect on camera entering the home through the garage.

Officers arrived at the home on Hugo Avenue and observed the suspect exiting the property with several construction items. They said he dropped the items in the driveway after noticing the approaching officers.

Police recovered burglary tools and four firearms during a search of the suspect’s backpack.

Anthony Lamar Heyward, 57, was arrested on charges including possession of a firearm during a violent crime and burglary in the second degree.
