Toys for Tots moves to online registration for 2024 holiday season

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The holiday season is quickly approaching, and News 2 is partnering with the U.S. Marines for the 38th year to collect and distribute toys to local children in need.

Toys for Tots registration is shifting to online-only this year. Families needing assistance are encouraged to visit the U.S. Marine’s Toys for Tots website, by clicking here, to register online beginning on Wednesday, October 16.

Space is limited and will close at 35,000 families. You are encouraged to register early and not wait.

More than 115,000 toys were collected and distributed to more than 18,000 children in the tri-county area last year, including a special Christmas morning delivery to roughly 5,500 children who otherwise would not have toys under the tree.

The online application process will help the U.S. Marines streamline their donation operation. After a short review, those seeking assistance will receive an email notification regarding their application status.

If your request is approved, further details regarding the toy collection will be provided in the notification email. To collect toys, you must present a valid photo ID and original birth certificate for each child you register.

Children eligible to receive toy donations are between the ages of newborn to 16 years old. All toys are distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
