One dead, one hospitalized after three-vehicle crash on US 15

DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A fatal collision occurred on US 15 near Smoak Hill Road in Dorchester County on Friday afternoon, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol Corporal Nick Pye.

The crash, which took place at approximately 4:29 p.m., involved three vehicles: a 2012 Dodge sedan, a 2025 Kenworth dump truck, and a 2015 Chevrolet sedan.

All vehicles were traveling north on US 15 when the Dodge sedan and Chevrolet sedan collided, causing the Chevrolet to then crash into the dump truck. The Chevrolet was forced off the road to the right, where it struck a tree.

The driver of the Chevrolet sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger in the Chevrolet was injured and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Neither the driver of the Dodge sedan nor the dump truck driver was injured in the crash.

The Dorchester County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the identity of the victim.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the incident.
