Student threatened to burn down Georgetown County school: deputies

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A student in Georgetown County has been charged after threatening to burn down his school.

The 12-year-old student made the threat against Waccamaw Intermediate School, according to the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the juvenile was placed in emergency protective custody after attempting to harm himself. He was taken to a local hospital.

The student could be punished according to the Georgetown County School District’s policy.
