Allendale Co. Sheriff’s Office searching for missing woman, authorities find abandoned car

ALLENDALE, S.C. (WJBF) – The Allendale County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public’s assistance in locating a 27-year-old woman from Jacksonville, Florida.

Jessica Rapsys’ vehicle was found Tuesday, August 13th around 9:15 p.m.

Authorities say it was stuck across the railroad tracks that run through the community of Martin in northwestern Allendale County. It was still warm, but had been sitting for a while, according to Allendale County Sheriff, James Freeman.

Sheriff Freeman tells NewsChannel 6 that the tracks where Rapsys’s car was found were on private property on Creek Plantation.

According to the sheriff, authorities searched for Jessica on Wednesday, August 14th. The search included three helicopters, two of which were from Savannah River Site, and a local dog team.

The helicopters provided an aerial survey of the area surrounding the vehicle for five and a half hours.

SLED has been asked to help with the investigation into Jessica’s disappearance.
