Residents urged to report damage as crews begin Berkeley County after storm assessment

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Crews will be out assessing flooding damage over the next couple days to gauge how much damage Tropical Storm Debby caused in Berkeley County.

Residents who have damage to their homes or businesses are urged to report it here or calling the citizen call line at 843-719-4800 and leaving a detailed message description. Callers will here an automated response. Stay on the line and leave the message.

Citizen damage reports will help authorities determine the correct amount of federal and state funding needed to repair after Debby.

Officials also said the Berkeley County Landfill will operate on extended hours Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Berkeley County is still operating at OPCON 1 as the county remains under a flash flood warning until 10:15 p.m.
