LIVE BLOG: Tornado warning expired in Lowcountry counties including Georgetown County

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — A tornado warning has been issued for Georgetown and Williamsburg counties until 9:35 a.m. on Tuesday.

NWS Charleston says a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Georgetown at 9:09 a.m., moving northwest at 35 mph.

Locations: Pringle Heights, Johnson Corner, Lanes Creek, Stuckey and Hemingway residents should seek shelter as of 9:35 a.m. on Tuesday.

This is a warning, not a watch, Storm Team 2 says there is no observation of a tornado but it has been observed by radar.

NWS says to send your reports of hail and/or wind damage, including trees or large limbs downed, by calling the National Weather Service office in Wilmington at 1-800-697-3901.

A tornado watch has been issued for Berkeley, Charleston, Dorchester, and Georgetown counties at 6:57 a.m. and will be in effect until 5:27 p.m.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — A tornado warning has been issued for Charleston and Berkeley counties until 1:15 a.m.

Locations include: Goose Creek, Hanahan, Ladson, Crowfield Plantation, and College Park including I-26 between mile markers 203 and 206 as of 1:08 a.m. Tuesday.

Report any damage to the Charleston National Weather Service at 888-383-2024 when safe to do so.

A thunderstorm near the Don Holt Bridge was spotted capable of producing a tornado moving northwest at 30 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

This warning is in a separate Charleston County location from the one below.

Another tornado warning has been issued for Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties until 1 a.m.

Storm Team 2 Meteorologists Rob Fowler and Jed Christoph are seeing rotation moving towards West Ashley.

The following locations are all in the general area: North Charleston, Summerville, I-26/I-526 Interchange, Ladson, West Ashley, Hollywood, Charleston Airport, Magnolia Gardens, and Knightsville. The rotation is moving at 30 mph.

A separate tornado warning has been issued for Colleton County as of 12:31 a.m. Tuesday and is in effect until 1 a.m.

A severe thunderstorm was located near Fripp Island capable of producing a tornado moving northwest at 30 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A tornado warning is in effect for two Lowcountry counties until 11:15 p.m.

Tornado debris signature has been picked up on radar on Kiawah Island, according to Chief Meteorologist Rob Fowler. Stay sheltered as rotation continues.

Forecasters spotted a waterspout 15 miles offshore of Kiawah Island south of Sandy Point. The waterspout is moving towards the coast and could come ashore as a tornado.

The following locations are most impacted:

Edisto Beach, Johns Island, Hollywood, Folly Beach, Ravenel, Seabrook Island, Kiawah Island, Meggett, Rockville, Bennetts Point, Jacksonboro, Bears Bluff, Wadmalaw Island, Green Pond, and Yonges Island.

A tornado was confirmed by officials on Edisto Beach in Colleton County. Colleton County deputies say they have received reports of property damage and several downed power lines.

Palmetto Boulevard is impassible as a result until surveyors can evaluate the damage. No injuries have been reported so far. Rescue crews are out assisting those affected.
