24-year-old arrested after verbal altercation leads to shots fired on James Island

JAMES ISLAND, S.C. (WCBD) – The Charleston Police Department has arrested a suspect responsible for a shooting on James Island Thursday.

Cameron Brisbane, 24, of Charleston is charged with attempted murder, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

Officers responded to the intersection of Central Park Rd and Fleming Rd for a reported disturbance involving shots being fired. The victim reported being in a verbal altercation with the armed suspect when the suspect threatened to kill the victim.

The victim fled on foot as the suspect fired his gun, authorities say no one was injured during the shooting.

The shooting prompted road closures in the area while police investigated the scene.

Following the investigation, Brisbane was arrested on August 1 and is currently in custody at the Al Cannon Detention Center.
