Drowning victim recovered from Ashley River, coroner says
DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – The body of a person reported missing over the weekend was recovered from the Ashley River on Tuesday morning.
Bryan Jacob Guinan, 22, of Summerville, was reported missing Sunday. Dorchester County Coroner Paul Brouthers said a bystander at the Herbert Jessen boat landing discovered the body floating in the water around 6 a.m. Tuesday.
Summerville Fire Rescue recovered the body a few hours later. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy was conducted at the Medical University of South Carolina and the cause of death was determined to be drowning. The manner of death was ruled accidental.
The SC Department of Natural Resources, Summerville Police and Summerville Fire Rescue, the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office, and Dorchester County Coroner’s Office are investigating.
