CCSD releases schedule for football jamboree
CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – The date has been set for Charleston County’s annual multi-team football exhibition.
A dozen schools will participate in the Dave Spurlock Charleston County School District (CCSD) Football Jamboree. It serves as the kickoff to the district’s football season.
Now in its third year, the preseason event was named after former CCSD Athletic Director Dave Spurlock last year. Spurlock, who built a legacy in the Lowcountry athletic world, passed away in June 2022.
District leaders say 12 schools will participate on Friday, August 16 at Robert E. Hayes Field at the District 2 Regional Stadium in Mount Pleasant. Each exhibition contest will last 20 minutes with normal clock operation.
5:30 p.m. – Academic Magnet Raptors vs. North Charleston Cougars
6:00 p.m. – Bishop England Battling Bishops vs. Wando Warriors
6:30 p.m. – Military Magnet Eagles vs. Burke Bulldogs
7:00 p.m. – West Ashley Wildcats vs. Baptist Hill Bobcats
7:30 p.m. – St. John’s Islanders vs. R.B. Stall Warriors
8:00 p.m. – James Island Trojans vs. Lucy Beckham Bengals
Gates open for fans at 4:30 p.m. The district will enforce its clear bag policy.
Tickets can be purchased for $7 each online. Children five and under are free. Those attending should save their proof of purchase to their email accounts and present digital tickets on their mobile devices at the gate. Tickets are also available for purchase with cash on the day of the event.
Proceeds will benefit the 12 participating schools.
