Mt. Pleasant introduces EV charging stations

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – The Town of Mount Pleasant introduces 23 new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across two key locations.

Town officials say 11 EV charging stations are installed at Town Hall (100 Ann Edwards Lane) and 12 are installed at Memorial Waterfront Park (99 Harry M. Hallman Jr Blvd).

“This initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability and resilience, aligning with our strategic plan to protect neighborhoods and community systems,” says Mount Pleasant officials.

This initiative encourages the use of electric vehicles and contributes to a greener, more sustainable community, according to town officials.

Mount Pleasant partnered with Dominion Energy to install the stations at no cost to the town, making Mount Pleasant the first government entity to partner with Dominion to create this project.

A fee of 20 cents per kilowatt hour will be charged through the Tesla charging app, said Mount Pleasant officials.

Mount Pleasant has plans to build 12 additional charging stations in Park West.
