Suspect cuts man’s nose with sword in confrontation over kiss at Horry County Circle K, report says
HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A 36-year-old man is facing charges after allegedly cutting part of a man’s nose off with a sword, according to Horry County police records obtained by News13.
Peter Michael Anthony Tighe of Myrtle Beach was charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature. He remains in the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on a $15,000 bond where he was booked early Saturday morning.
Horry County police responded at about 12:05 a.m. on Saturday to the area of Highway 707 and Bay Road for a man who had a large laceration, an incident report said. The responding officer spoke with the man, who said he was cut by a katana sword at a Circle K on Holmestown Road in the Myrtle Beach area.
The man told the officer that Tighe was upset with him because he had kissed Tighe’s family member in the parking lot, according to the report. He said Tighe approached him with the sword and starting swinging it at him, cutting him in the nose.
The responding officer showed the man a photo of a person who Horry County police were familiar with who lived in the woods near the Circle K and was always carrying “unique knives/weaponry,” the report said. The victim told the officer the person in the photo was Tighe.
Tighe was found hiding in the women’s bathroom of the Circle K, where he was arrested, the report said. The victim, who had a flap of skin hanging off his nose and a cut under his eye, was taken to an area hospital.
