Woman critically injured, revived after Colleton County collision
COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Two people were injured, one of whom critically, after a collision Tuesday morning in Colleton County.
Colleton County Fire-Rescue said the collision occurred around 8:21 a.m. on Jefferies Highway south of Academy Road.
Witnesses told authorities a Honda Accord turned into the path of a Chevrolet pickup truck heading south. After impact, the Honda spun and traveled across all five lanes on Jefferies Highway before coming to a stop in the woods.
Colleton Fire said the woman driving the Honda was found unconscious and suffering from cardiac arrest, among other traumatic injuries. First responders carefully removed her from the vehicle and resuscitated her at the scene.
She was then rushed to Colleton Medical Center by paramedics in critical condition. The driver of the pickup had non-life-threatening injuries and was also taken to Colleton Medical Center.
South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating this incident.
