Second teen arrested in Pawleys Island attempted armed robbery

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) — Deputies in Georgetown say they have arrested a second suspect in connection to an attempted armed robbery at McDonald’s.

The attempt took place on Pawleys Island on March 31. Sheriff Weaver said the second suspect is a 16-year-old. They are charged with attempted robbery and assault in the second degree.

That minor is being taken to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia. Previously, deputies arrested a 12-year-old in connection to the incident.

A McDonald’s employee told investigators that she was struck in the back with what she said looked like a rifle-style firearm. This happened after the suspects fired three shots that did not hit her, according to the sheriff’s office.

The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating this incident. Anyone with information should call 843-546-5102.
