Mount Pleasant will be declared ‘pinwheel city’ in fight against child abuse
MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – Mount Pleasant will be declared a ‘Pinwheel City’ on Tuesday morning to raise awareness in the fight against child abuse.
The town is again partnering with the Children’s Trust of South Carolina and Dee Norton Child Advocacy Center as they work together to prevent child abuse throughout April.
Leaders say the pinwheel has come to serve as the national symbol of child abuse prevention. Pinwheel gardens will be planted outside Mount Pleasant town hall and around the community to show support for the initiative.
Mount Pleasant Mayor Will Haynie will make the special declaration at town hall along with representatives from Dee Norton and Children’s Trust. Mount Pleasant Police Chief Mark Arnold will also be on hand for the announcement.
The event begins at 11:00 a.m.
