CCSO: Body washed ashore on James Island

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) is investigating a body that washed ashore just off of Wampler Drive on James Island.

CCSO said they received the report around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Officials say the body is a white male, approximately 20-30 years old, with no obvious signs of trauma.

CCSO says its Criminal Investigation Division and Forensic Services Unit and the Charleston County Coroner have been notified.

Officials say as the investigation continues there is no known danger to the community. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office at 843-202-1700.
