Wanted man captured in Berkeley County after multi-day search

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A Berkeley County man wanted on a slew of charges, including attempted murder, has been captured following a multi-day search.

Chief Deputy Jeremy Baker with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) told News 2 that Charles Britt, 24, was captured Monday around 2:00 a.m.

The hunt for Britt began on Wednesday following an assault on Eggleston Way where Britt is accused of striking a victim with a pole and pointing and pulling the trigger on a gun that was pointed at a victim.

Officials said that the pistol misfired and did not discharge; however, they say the 24-year-old then pointed the pistol at one of the victim’s dogs and fired the weapon into the ground before leaving the scene.

Deputies continued their search for Britt well into Sunday night after receiving reports of possible sightings earlier in the day. They also believe he is responsible for setting at least four outdoor fires near Conifer Road and Halfway Creek Road.
