Charleston Police investigating officer-involved shooting in West Ashley

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The Charleston Police Department (CPD) is investigating a Sunday evening officer-involved shooting in West Ashley.

According to CPD, the incident happened near Carriage Lane and Ashley River Road.

A source with the City of Charleston tells News 2 that an officer was injured in the hand and the suspect was reportedly injured as well. Neither injury is expected to be life-threatening.

Police say the scene is contained and there is no threat to the public.

Ashley River Road is closed between Fuseler Road and Old Towne Road due to the investigation.

Details are limited at this time. CPD said that additional information is expected later this evening.
