At least six mobile homes damaged, firefighter injured in North Charleston fire

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – At least six mobile homes were damaged Tuesday night and a firefighter was injured after a fire broke out in North Charleston.

According to the North Charleston Fire Department (NCFD), the fires occurred on Beret Street around 4:50p.m.

NCFD said that the fire started out in a shed, but spread because of strong winds. At the peak of the fire, winds were 35pmh, which prolonged the process of putting the fires out.

Power lines in the area were impacted as well. Power was out in the neighborhood Tuesday night and NCFD said it was unknown when power would be restored.

The six impacted homes were either partial or total losses. 13 adults and six children were displaced and are being assisted by the Red Cross.

There were no injuries to civilians, but one firefighter was transported for non-life-threatening injuries.
