FBI requested to investigate Thursday threat at Summerville High School, officials said
SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCBD) – A “hold” that was placed on Summerville High School while law enforcement investigated a threat Thursday morning has been lifted.
The school has been operating under a “secure” status after leaders said they received a threat via telephone.
School leaders said law enforcement was notified around 10:00 a.m. of a threat that was received by the school, but details about the threat were not provided.
The Summerville Police Department was called in to investigate. A spokesman for Summerville PD told News 2 they have requested assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to investigate the source of that threat.
An earlier message sent out to parents said the school would continue under a “secure” status. That is one level below “lockdown” and one above “hold,” according to the district.
No other details were provided. This is a developing story.
