Man in custody following barricaded subject situation at Georgetown home

GEORGETOWN, S.C. (WCBD) – The Georgetown Police Department (GPD) on Saturday morning took a man into custody after a barricaded subject situation on Shade Street in the Bay View subdivision.

According to GPD, police responded to reports of shots fired at a home at 4:15 a.m. Saturday.

Police say an intoxicated man came home and fired gunshots from inside his home at passing vehicles.

Authorities tried to make contact with the subject via telephone and megaphone.

A perimeter was established around the home. Neighboring houses were evacuated or instructed to shelter in place.

Following numerous unsuccessful attempts to make contact with the subject, GPD, Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office, and the local SWAT team entered the home.

GPD says no one was hurt nor is there anyone else inside the home.
