Berkeley County awards $1M in Community Development Block Grants

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Berkeley County has awarded more than a million dollars in Community Development Block Grants to local fire departments, agencies, and non-profit organizations.

The money comes from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. It will provide Berkeley County communities with resources to address unique community development needs.

The East Berkeley Fire Department, C&B Fire Department, North Berkeley Fire Department, and the Pine Ridge Fire Department will all receive money from these grants for emergency supplies and facility upgrades.

The Cordesville Fire Department will receive $50,000 for a community center uplift.
