Statewide animal adoption event kicks off Friday

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – South Carolina’s biggest dog and cat adoption event of the year will get underway Friday.

“Petco Love Pick Me! SC” aims to find loving homes for 2,500 dogs and cats in just 10 days.

The statewide adoption celebration is organized by Charleston Animal Society’s “No Kill South Carolina” initiative, with hopes of uniting more than 90 animal shelters, rescue organizations, and pet care centers to make it easy for families to find their new pet.

“Over the past seven years, we’ve helped more than 12,000 pets find loving homes,” said No Kill South Carolina Project Officer Abigail Appleton, PMP, CAWA. “We cannot wait to see how many more adoptions we can make happen for these amazing pets across our state.”

Throughout the event, shelters and rescue groups will offer free or low-fee adoptions. They will also have everything you need for your pet, including food bowls, crates, beds, collars, and leashes.

The adoption event begins on Friday and runs through June 29. Click here to learn more.
