Man accused of threatening to kill residents at Dorchester County apartment complex
DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Authorities arrested an armed suspect accused of threatening residents at a Dorchester County apartment complex.
Deputies with the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Waverly Place Apartments on Thursday afternoon after 911 received multiple calls reporting a man who pulled a firearm from a backpack and was threatening to kill residents.
North Charleston officers assisted the sheriff’s office in looking for the suspect. Deputies were eventually alerted by dispatchers that the suspect had jumped a fence and was heading toward Bosch.
The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Moamen Hassan, of North Charleston, was captured and taken into custody.
Deputies also located a backpack and a firearm used during the incident.
Hassan is charged by the sheriff’s office with assault and battery first degree and pointing and presenting a firearm at a person. He is being held at the L.C. Knight Detention Center.
