Broken water main impacting W. Montague Ave. Tuesday morning

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A broken water main is impacting service along a North Charleston road.

Charleston Water System said a contractor broke a water main near 1301 W. Montague Avenue overnight.

The road is closed to traffic, and Charleston Water said some customers are without water.

North Charleston police say all lanes of Montague Avenue between Dorchester Road and Lawyers Lane are closed. Drivers can use Cheatham Drive/Athletic Street, but advise people to avoid the area and find an alternate route.

Neither a timeline for repairs nor reopening the roadway was provided.
