1 injured in Summerville officer-involved shooting

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCBD) – An investigation is underway Sunday following an officer-involved shooting in Summerville.

The Summerville Police Department responded to residence in the Summervillage Mobile Home Park for a welfare check around 8 p.m.

Once there, officers heard gunshots and engaged the suspect, according to Deputy Chief Chris Hirsch.

“A Summerville Police Officer discharged his weapon, injuring the suspect,” Hirsch said.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division has been asked to investigate into the officer-involved shooting.
